Nesting Bowl TableCurly Maple | 2010

Vicco considers this table to be one of his most difficult as well as favorite pieces to date because of it’s significance in marking a new direction in both his work and personal life. It was commissioned for the purpose of displaying Dale Chihuly glass nesting bowls in the foyer of a New York City apartment.  The client’s initial vision for the table was a sculpted female figure holding the bowls.  Vicco’s design challenge was to interpret this request from his own artistic perspective, which is often influenced by what is happening in his life and natural surroundings at the moment.  In the spring of 2009, Vicco’s wife was pregnant with their first child, Ella, and all the flowers on their property were in full bloom.  Inspired by the strong feminine presence in his life, as well as by the sensuality and delicacy of the Irises in his garden, Vicco chose to base the table design on a metaphorical representation of the female form through the symbol of the flower.
