WOODHENGE: A Community-Centered Public Art Project

Vicco von Voss has been awarded a $10,000 planning grant from the Maryland State Arts Council to develop Woodhenge, a new interactive public art installation at Adkins Arboretum in Caroline County, Maryland. Inspired by ancient henges such as Stonehenge, this unique project will transform six massive slabs into a cultural landmark, symbolizing resilience, transformation, and the natural cycles of life.

More than an artwork, Woodhenge is envisioned as a shared space for reflection, education, and connection.

PROJECT GOALS

  • Engage residents and visitors through community input and workshops

  • Finalize design plans incorporating public feedback

  • Lay the foundation for future funding and long-term sustainability

Adkins Arboretum, local and state arts councils, and other community partners will play key roles in this process.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! YOUR INSIGHTS, ADVICE AND GUIDANCE IS INVALUABLE TO THIS PROJECT. PROVIDE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS INITIATIVE THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY FEEBACK SURVEY.
